Swans are swimming again on Round Lake, six months after state biologists netted a pair that captivated crowds last summer.

But unlike the birds that were trucked away when the lake froze in December, the new swans aren't exactly wild. The man who put them there said he wanted people to think they just flew in out of the blue, but he admitted Thursday that he got them from a Rensselaer County game preserve.

"I wasn't going to tell anyone I put them there," said Jon Meager of Round Lake. "I thought it was such a nice thing last year to have them here, I wanted to bring them back. Crowds of people come to see …
