Money talks, CPS fair to walk parents through financial aid opportunities

Eighty-five percent of Chicago Public School kids are children of low-income families, a burden on students that educators believe poses severe disadvantages in their effort to make it into college and, ultimately, to land good jobs.

"Suburban kids can just get on a plane and go to Florida and check out places like Florida State University. Most Chicago students don't have the means to do that, so we're bringing places such as the University of Utah and other far-away places to them," Eve Hyatt, a Chicago Public Schools spokesperson said.
