Tas: Brown says Greens will peak up seats in Tassie election

SYDNEY, Feb 17 AAP - Federal Greens leader Bob Brown believes his party will pick up
seats at the Tasmanian election.

Tasmanian Labor Premier Paul Lennon is expected to call an election today for March 18.

Senator Brown, a former member of the Tasmanian parliament, said he believed the ranks
of the four Greens MPs in the lower house would be swelled at the election.

He took a swipe at Labor and the Liberal Party for refusing to agree to work with the
Greens in minority government if, as is widely expected, neither major party wins a majority
of seats at the poll.

"The Greens have got the runs on the board, they've got great candidates, they will
pick up seats," he said.

"And they're the only party who are saying they'll respect the vote of the Tasmanian
people and work in a minority government situation if that's what the Tasmanian people
vote for.

"The arrogant old parties say they won't have that."
